Bumpstrip Problem

Post by crodgers »

Removed my bumpstrips the other day. Found that the passengers side was perfect and looks well. But when i removed the strips on the drivers side i realised that there is skim of laquer or something below where the rubstrip was. I have tried Autoglym Paint renovator and a good wash an polish but nothing seems to work, it just highlights this area.
Below is a pic -

Any Ideas?

hum i have this 2, but my cars black its not noticable unless you are looking for it, but T-Cut might reduce the scale of it? I personally find T-cut the better option seems like it burns the top layer off :)

I agree G3 is the way to go, T-cut is very harsh..Try a small test area and give it a go, it maybe just the unfaded area underneath which hasn’t been affected by the weather which just needs a little blending. What you’re trying to do is cut back the surrounding areas to blend with the strip.

Will this definately work? If you run your finger downwards you can feel the difference.

could you post some pictures, it might sound like you had some work done on that side and they didn't remove the strips just masked them, then the clear coat has settled against the strip, as the other side seems fine this maybe be what happened..

Tried the 1500 and the compound. Didnt work unfortunately. And actually rub through a tiny bit. Going to get a price for a respray or else the strips will have to go back on!
