Diesels are very sluggish, but I have driven my friends 8v and there is not much difference to be honest.
Diesels are £180 a year to tax :(

The diesel is a lot slower around town. Forget tax prices etc, the only thing to remember when it comes to £££ is MPG and the diesel wins hands down!

Yep, needs a small amount of modification, do a search in the DIY guides for the 'how to'

As for the choice of petrol or diesel, go & try both. You may find you prefer the drive of the petrol over the diesel, or vice versa.

Also depends how many miles you'll be doing per year & how long you want to keep the car. For example, if you do less than 7-8k a year its probably best with a 1.4 petrol. Over 10-12k a year, then diesel is probably the way forward.

If you don't want to keep it long, then get a petrol model, as more choice around & more chance of a bargain.

Hope that helps. :)

I have a 1.4 16v n it is £115 to tax for a year. Its quite good on fuel and has that extra little bit of power to give it an edge.
