HELP/ADVICE....UPDATED with damage report

Post by adam_0612 »

Well basically i managed to smash my car into a kerb last night and if you look at the pictures, they are the results.

Basically i dont know what i have done, but can kind of explain.

I have bent some metal thing and it has pushed into my disc brake, which has now been ruined when driving the car home. The steering is knackered but im guessing that is becuase the disc brake has been pushed out of position (slanting inwards)

So by looking at the pictures if someone could tell me what i have done, so i can try and get it sorted. Thanks

The bent metal

Ouch.. you have bent your wishbone, which looks like has forced your calliper onto the disc, you need to check the ARB too your going to need a new tyre too( tear in sidewall), so New wheel,Tyre, wishbone,(brake discs if you drove the car home it's prob shagged it) at the very least, untill you get the car apart you won't know if the ARB or steering rack is damaged. are you able to do the work yourself?

well my dads an ex-mechanic so he can do all the work or get it done for a cheaper price. But he is at work at the moment so he hasnt seen the damage.

Yes i thought it might have been the wishbone but wasnt sure. Yeh the disc is ruined on the other side becuase the metal has just scraped into it :x

is an easy fix if it is just the lower arm(wishbone) will be about 30 quid for the lower arm. wont take long to replace. like said check it hasnt damaged the disk. have a good luck for any other damage. and could probs do with tracking again once all replaced.

i did the same thing but got off lucky

i had to get new alloys obviously but major damage with the shock absorbers so id advise you take your car to a local garage and get him to get it on the ramps and have a look at them

and the stearing bar too!!

Bloody hell, i done the same back in Feburary. Went round a corner while it was wet and the back went. I tried to correct it and couldnt. Ended up snaking into the kerb.

Done £1k worth of damage, then due to the driveshaft ripping through the gearbox, i needed a new gearbox a week later when it kinda blew up! So had that and a new clutch.

£2k later im back on the road

My hub is getting replaced on Monday due to my wheel coming off a week or two ago. So it might be worth replacing that aswell. They are about £45

i did it basically went round a corner 2 fast and was a wet road so lost control rele n smashed straight into the kerb. My fault for driving like that anyway.

But i must say stretched tyres = less grip in my opinion.

Really gutted about my alloys though, will dubmeister sell them seperatley to me. Think i need two replacing, so would they just sell me two alloys?

Dubmiester will sell you two wheels mate

They charge and extra £13 or so for delivery, but thats for every two wheels so you will be ok

yep, i remember the other thread about stretch. I think when i get the new wheels i am going to get all the tyres changed over.

The stretch looks good, but if u want to push your car into corners a bit more them i wouldn't recommend them!
