Found ripped bag in my engine bay

Found it ripped half stuck under some cables:

What on earth is it. Have you opened the bag completely ?

Its sound insulation. The car is full of that stuff, especially the rear quarters!

It's used to wrap round the fuel pipes near the bulkhead where they then go through under the car. I think it's to stop the pipes vibrating. First time I saw mine I wondered what on earth it was and started ripping it out till I saw 'VW' written on it!
