Newbie Mk4F TDi Sport

Post by macp »

Hello people good to be here
Just found this forum it looks excellent and thought I would introduce myself.I live in Cheshire have been a Vdub fan for sometime all starting way back with a Mk2 Golf GTi which I spent £10k on having full leather install, full respray in original colour, powersteering, suspension, etc, etc.I then bought a 2wd LHD Golf G60 which was a superb car.I got a company car after that so bought a cheap runaround for the wife a Mk1 Golf driver. That was replaced by our first Polo a Mk2 (breadvan) which was replaced by a Mk3 Polo GT which was replaced by a Mk3F Polo GLX which got some Awesome treatment. This brings us upto date as we have just bought a 52 plate Mk4F Polo 1.9 TDi Sport (100bhp).It looked tidy with a FSH and drove well (surprisingly quick) even though it had 98,000mls under its wheels so we bought it.Just got a couple of issues which I could do with some advice on.One of the sidelights has blown on the nearside so the the battery is behind it. I have tried to get my hand in to replace it and it seems impossible.Do I have to remove the battery ?
I have also noticed a knocking from the front when driving over bumps in the road.Could this be ARB bushes or wishbone bushes ?

Thanks in advance.

For anybody interested I have booked it into PSI Tuning in Stoke On Trent who I know are superb people. This is the business of Andy Walker the ex mechanic for Jim Cotton of Awesome. No matter how busy he is he always seems to find time to help.

Check them out http://www.psituning.com/

I do not work for or have any family connections with Andy Walker but I do appreciate good service and people who care.

Hi welcome to the forum, have you booked in for tuning work, be nice to hear what your having done..
the knocking really could be anything, it's one of those got to be there and hear it, but it shouldn't be that hard to find, or put right..

Hi Mike

Yeah the 'knocking' could be anything but looking through the cars history I have noticed a note which says 'tighten anti roll bar' ?
Reading through the threads the weak points seem to be wishbone or ARB bushes.Im biting the bullet and have booked it in to PSI to carry out the work in the hope its not too serious.

Im gonna ask them to grease up the MAF plug too. Thanks to this forum for the tip
