Gonna order the short shifter soon me thinks...little bit of fun!!

Fixed the passenger side electric window tonight. It was the same as the drivers side.

Basically the glass mount pops off the runners, so the glass goes up at an angle, which stresses the motor.

The fix is as follows....

Get a headboard mount washer:

And a tap washer

And a screw:

...i cant find an appropriately sized picture!!

Take all the doorcard, door lining, and window guide out (all in the haynes manual!)

Basically, you get the broken mount, put it on the window guide as it should go.

You then put the headboard mount over it, and push the hole over the mount center. You then put a tap washer in between, and a nice wide screw in to hole it all tight.

Tighten it up and voila your window is fixed for about 50p!

As for the motor, take the top cover off, and smother it in white grease - this will stop it seizing. Also take the metal plate out the motor, and also smother this in grease:)

At the end you have a good as new electric window!!

Alex, how easy is it to replace the microswitch for the boot lock?

I need to replace mine as washer fluid got on it a fooked it. Still got it unplugged at the moment, but I fancy having it working again.

Dead easy. Take off the rear boot panel (two T20 torx screws)

Undo the boot latch (its a 6mm allen key)

It pulls forward. Unplug the connector, and pop the locking rod off

Then you just pull the microswitch forward out of the case - so if you had the latch on a table, it pulls upwards!

Then just pop the new one in, refit in reverse, and voila fixed :)

UPDATE:

Fitted the new headlight washer and i can safely say its not leaking anymore :)

Also fitted the new boot microswitch - seems you can clean them with just a bit of wet and dry if you didnt want to buy a new one!

But anyway, i now know when my boot is open :)
