Pressed Plates
I know there was already a topic on here regarding the pressed plates. I was planning on ordering myself a set of these plates this morning from Carnoisser in Northern Ireland. I asked the guy do they make pressed plates and he replied yes. Then i asked him where they UK Road Legal. And he replied NO! Funnily enough they had just recieved a letter from the DVLA yesterday informing them that there was going to be a major clamp down on these pressed plates and even the ones that were product with older cars like mini metros and stuff. I told him that Dubmeister said they were UK Legal and hes says this has now changed. I dont know if this is just in Northern Ireland but just thought id let you guys know!
I got my legal ones from their branch in East London and the guy said there is gonna be a clamp down on show plates from November. Basically you have to register with the DVLA to sell legal plates. You cannot make any space/font changes to the plates. Furthermore, the DVLA will send mystery customers to plate sellers to see if they are acting legit. If not, you face a £15,000 fine for it and loose your license to sell. However, thats all I heard and a similar thread is on-going on E38 reflecting what I said.
so the dubmeister plates are legal and comply with the British Standards regulation, which is also printed on the plate. Someone said they had been pulled over by traffic cops with these plates only to get
when showed these are legal.
So the change from November is for show plates and altered legal style plates. I don't believe retro cars have to switch to plastic from pressed plates as these were issued it as standard at the time.

Pressed plates have never been legal. I'm aware Dubmeister do reflective pressed plates. which i would say could be legal, but a copper would disagree. I'm on Pressed plates, Mansfield has had a huge crack down on car/modifications ect for the plast 12 months. I've had my plates over a month with no hassle. I've driven past, along side and even parked infront of the law. Must be my luck. As ilegal as they are i love em. Not sure they're worth a £30 fine though.

If you do have a set of the legal ones would anyone care to take a pic of them?
Cheers
I managed to find some pics on a Seat forum. I'd still like to see more pics if anyone else has them.
I have the dubmeister plates (no pics yet).
They are legal and proven as stated on the plate with the BSAU145d regulation code. you can't say they are illegal just because they are pressed plates, you need to know how they differ from illegal pressed plates. (Which I don't by the way
)
Dubmeister won't be selling these within the UK and advertise as 'legal' if it wasn't. If they were lying Trading Standards would've been on their case by now!

I agree with Noz, you can't 'tar' all pressed plates with the 'illegal' banner. Legeslation is changing & you'll probably find someone has mis-interpreted whats gonna happen. See this website for what is legal, loads of info. The only new legislatin I have found is coming in on the 1st of November, this is for companies who supply leal plates to be registered to do so. See DVLA Website for more info.NOZ wrote:I have the dubmeister plates (no pics yet).

Also, as Noz said, Dubmeister would not be selling them as legal if they were not, as someone would land up sueing there backside off!
That's enough for me to get them.Overseer wrote:See my thread: http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... hp?t=38956polo_dude wrote:Has anyone on here actually purchased the legal reflective pressed plates from dubmeister? Is there any notable difference in the design?
