Problem with HID's, come on when flash my headlights!

Post by lolhoward »

I have just noticed that when my lights are off or I just have sidelights on, when I flash my lights (full beam) my main beam HID's come on aswell. I didn't notice this with my normal lights. If they used to I just will stop flashing! as I heard turning HID's on and off can shorten there life span.

Please could somebody confirm or help me out, cheers.

Also one looks slightly brighter, is that just the bulb being slightly different or just the way its reflecting as I haven't got projectors.

If you pull the stalk till it clicks, itll deactivate them coming on together - its just a wierd and wonderful feature with retrofitting!

I think I remember doing that with my old lights. So you dont pull the stalk fully then, sort of half way. So did standard lights do it too? Also am I correct that it will damage them if I do use them.

cheers. Or I just leave my HID's on most of the time so no worry's when they come on.

Also one looks a tad brighter than the other, but could be just the way its reflecting. Is there anything you can do or anything that could cause one to be slightly dimmer?

Thats the way they are. Take a pic - they should both be the same brightness, unless you have a defective bulb

Ok. Will do. Dont think it will show up in a pic. Could be slight difference in height.

I have listed this topic in Mk5 section and speaking to Tim he says there seems a prob?

Hopefully it aint me confusing matters by describing wrong?
