ANPR recognition camera's can't properly read the German font. That's the reason for the font being illegal. Pressed plates are illegal as they don't shatter and have sharp edges, which in the case of an accident can cut someone (I know you'd be more worried about the object attached to the plate in an accident :roll: )

The term illegal is somewhat confusing to people. What makes them illegal is the lettering space, hight and size, and none reflective. I dont think them actually being pressed is illegal. The world would be better for us if the police used the same terms as MOT testers. Ha.

Also i believe Tim has a set of reflective ones.

Yep that's right, it's not the material that is illegal, it's the font and spacing.

Mine are reflective, but the font and spacing is illegal. That didn't stop a damn speed camera clocking me 53 in a 40mph zone the otherday though :evil:

"Tut, Tut" Lol Thought i nearly got caought on the m6 south bound coming back from glasgow today. though the van was just pulling off the bridge and not actually filming me.

Some of the pressed plates are illegal due to the material. Some of the metal ones leave sharp edges or just bend when hit instead of coming apart.
