Stupid prices for insurance mate? I have declared every single one of my mods and i own a 1.4 16v, and they added a total of £151 to the premium, not bad i thought!

Have you taken any pics of your car?

I'm curious as to how these sills look like

If you need anything spraying let me know, colour coded rear badge, red lined gti grille, badges painted black of any colour! Black rear view mirror, the list goes on ;)

Welcome to Uk Polos btw ;)

I then bought some Flash Red paint from Halfords, as the previous owner had (I guess rightfully so) treated the sills in a protective all weather/conditions rust proof paint (which btw was black) so the end result was black sills on the red, which made it look REALLY cheap and tacky so that was the first thing on my to do list.
The previous owner must have been retarded since the whole car is galvanised so cannot rust

Thanks for the welcome :D

The sills look really really cheap, I just had to get them sorted, I couldnt live with the look  it really was awful, bought some flash red from halfords, just havnt had the time to get around to it yet, need to move alot of crap out of the garage so I can get the car in there for a few days.

I have taken pics, but I don't have a working digital camera, so I had to use an iphone, and can't seem to get the pics to email to myself :x

WTF @ the sills!

You've got a good base car dude, its the wrong shade of red tho ;)

Are you gonna sort the sills our or leave them for now?

If you need any photoshops of your car let me know, will give you an idea of what it will look like.

I think if you went with a red and black theme the sills might work i duno =\

looks as if the sills have had some damage at some point, thats why they have been painted black,
in pic 4
that isnt right, with that wavey line going through it, try rubbing it down just to have a look, did you have it hpi'd before you bought ( cills = structal )

I bought some paint from Halfords, soon as weather is good enough I'm going to rub down the sills, see if I can get it all off. Then hopfully just respray them. Spraying right over it will look crap.

The wavey line looks to be just an extra layer of whatever it is, it's on the drivers side too, except not as thorough. It looks like it can be rubbed off but I won't know if there's anything wrong until I get it off.

I don't intend putting much into this tbh, it's my first car and I plan on getting rid of it soon anways and upgrading to a valver just have to wait 4 months until I claim for 1 years driving experience.
The only things I'm going to do to it are subtle cosmetic changes that I can easily replace with the originals once I come to shift it. The pics are quite bad quality, the bonnet is deffinatly faded some, but I only paid a bean for the car so it's not worth the hastle.

I bought a GTI grill off VAG parts earlier and the site crapped out on me as I tried to pay, and they still havnt gotten back to me

Looks like someone has gone a bit mad with the stone chip paint, still won't take long to sort out..just take your time and don't rush it.
as for being one liter, don't worry too much about that i've driven all sorts over the years and now own a 1.4

Just a little update, had the sills done while I was away on hols, there wasn't critical damage to them except there was a dent in the passenger side sill, looks like it had maybe hit somthing like a rock or a curb or somthing wasn't deep but it was dented. Had that sorted out and had the sills repainted. Looks alot better imo, but this will probably be where the project ends.

Been shopping around and have found that even at my age with no ncb I can get insured on a GTI for only a couple hundred more than what I'm paying for the E.

Going to paint the callipers red with the paint I have left over Monday (maybe?) while I give the hubs a once over with a wire brush, going to fit the GTI grill that came while I was on holiday too, and finally get round to getting 2 new tires so I can fit the RXII's :P

Pics are kinda crappy, but there was wasn't enough space to croutch down and get the entire side of the car in 1 shot so I had to step up onto the garden wall thats why I took 2 pic's of the passenger side :?
