Do I Euro or OEM+ the Polo?
Do I Euro or OEM+ the Polo?
Well with all of the crap weather we are having, i'm toying with the idea of going "euro" theme with the polo for the winter/end of summer. I'm currently running on BBS RXii's which have to be maintained a lot because of the unprotected polished lip and with the weather being awful most days means I can't get outside to do it.
As some of you are aware, the car will be undergoing a full respray soon and this could be a prime opportunity to "Smooth" off some parts of the bumper. Lowering it 80mm on some euro wheels such as Ronal Turbo's or normal alloys could be a good idea for the winter months?
However... I could go the OEM+ way and keep it the way it is, lower it to a decent level on coilovers (should I change my mind) and be as happy as I am with it anyway. It's a hard decision but i'm open to other suggestions right now.
Cheers guys,
Daz

I agree. Hard decision. Try a little of both.Torq-Al wrote:I'd try & combine the best of both, personally I want to go OEM+, purely because I don't really like the smooth look, however that is just personal taste.
Depends if you want a show car, or day-to-day car. If you want just the latter, than the cost & time of smoothing isn't really worth it.
All you've got to do is look at Robs car to see how an 8V can look stunning with a few minor changes & little elbow grease & not too much cash. Major bodywork is not needed to get an amazing motor.vw-po-low wrote:I agree. Hard decision. Sit down & find pics of all the things you like, wheels, bodywork, paint etc. Then see how you can incorporate elements into an almost unique car for you!
Thanks for the thoughts, the thing is... I love the OEM+ look with the RXii's and when its lowered I know it will look fantastic but then on the other hand I love full on Euro look. Then i've got to add up the cost of having the extra bits done, which makes me wonder because as the end of the day it's a 1.4 8v polo daily hack.
I'll try and look at some pictures and look on from there, or maybe get the suspension done first and then see whether i'm swayed.

Think you've answered your own question. Suspension, live with it, see how you feel!Polo96CL wrote:Thanks for the thoughts, the thing is...
