Right then,
I have just bought a OBD-II VAG-COM lead from ebay and i am having trouble getting it to link to the car, i am pretty sure that the problem is driver related i just dont have a clue what to do. I have installed VAG COM onto the laptop (xp) and installed what i think are the necessary drivers (the ones that came with the lead) but i just cant get it to pick up the car when i am sat in it with the ignition ON. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks Tom.

Possibly a duff cable? seems odd its not detecting it at all. It took me about 5 minutes to install the software and get it to recognise my car :/
Noticed a handy cable in Argos the other day.. It's by "RAC" and allows you to plug into the car and the small device just shows the codes on the small lcd screen.. options to clear the faults too! seemed quite good really for people like myself worried about changing settings by mistake..

Sometimes the software sets the USB port to use COM5, VAG-COM only goes up to com4. Go into the USB-RS232 settings (as it appears on mine) in device manager and change it to the next available COM port, then in VAG-COM, use this same COM port and hey presto it should work. Give me a PM if you need any help.
