Golf GTi wheels...

Post by neils »

Hi,
Just got my first polo, a 95 1.4L. Very pleased with it so far too.
I'm wanting to replace my scabby 13" steelies but am on a very tight budget. Seen a few sets of golf gti steelies and alloys on ebay with 185/60/14 tyres that should fit. Just wanted to make sure though.
Has anybody had this size and was there any rubbing etc. I don't have power steering, would these make the steering unbearably heavy?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers...

The rims will fit fine. The tyres you've quoted are slightly taller than standard spec. Will put the speedo out a little, altho probably not noticeable, Standard size is 185/55/14, as fitted to the 16V.

As long as you are running stock ride height you won't have an issue with rubbing with the taller 60-profile tyre.

And remember, a taller tyre has a greater rolling circumference, so will be slower acceleration & slightly higher top end!
