Right Josh, you owe me! Just been & photographed this!!! :shock:

The big bit of metalwork underneath the filter is the rear axle beam, so will give you a very good orientation of where it is & it's very central too. :D

Has yours been changed since new? cause mine seems to still have the very first one on it :shock: well it looks that old :lol:

Previous owners had it either serviced at VW or a independant VW specialist, so it had good service history. So has been checked & replaced regularly I would say. As the cleanliness of the filter seems to suggest it wasn't long ago it was changed!

Right, finished work early and managed to get a filter £9.95 :)
Jacked the car up and got to work got the old filter of and fitted the new one all good :D

Then goes to start the car da da da da da da nothing :cry: my dad then comes out to help...nothing. then he lent on this and it was rather hot, turn out im not getting any power to the leads or something he said...

Any one know what this? and what it does? might explain why im not getting any sparks...all leads and plugs are fine!

Performance VW! :lol: Not at the Mo! :lol:

By the way, thats your coil!! Make sure all the connectors are on tight. Have you put the filter on the right way round? If not you'll have no fuel! :shock:

PS. I checked for you & the filter is a once every 40k change!

I know ironic aye :lol: day after i stuck it it broke...

Yup fitted on it the same way it came off...
All the connections where checked to...so its my coil thats f****d?
Anybody know how much these are?

Before you completely blame the coil, are you sure which way the arrows pointed on the filter? Be an easier fix for you.

also its gotta be as i i was pumping it and we smet the petrol in the bay, and unplugged the coil lead, going the cap and no spark
