MAP Sensor! Muwahahaha! :D

Post by vw-po-low »

The dub has been rough running for some time, stuttering, cutting out, revs surging up and down, been on the diagnostics a few times. Changed a number of thigs, Throttle body, lambda sensor, Coolant temp sensor, new plugs. Gave up for a while .. and then today! i went to work around 8pm ... lol to the workshop, lifted the bonnet ... and disconnected my MAP Sensor.. and guess what? .. she ran soooo good, lol. thing is im sure ive checkd this before and it made no difference... but it has. Never skipped a beat, revs were steady no surging or cutting out, perfect. I made sure it was this by connecting and disconnecting a few times. I even removed the MAP sensor and gave it a clean, worth a try but no luck. So im on the duty of ordering a new one.

To those who do not know -

MAP - Manifold Air Pressure - Measures the pressure of the air in the inlet manifold, and then sends signals to the other components on the vehicle.

So by this being defective it will be sending incorrect signals ending in my dub running rough. The end , good night and thank you :D lol

lol I took my valver in a recommended diagnostics garage. They said it found a code and would try fixing it. When I returned they just say they replaced a rubber tube somewhere but wouldn't tell me which one.

Furthermore, the engine was stuttering and shacking like crazy like it'd fall off the mounts! I was so livid and told them to fuber off and i'm not paying, which they didn't moan about cos they knew they'd made it worse. Everytime I dettached the MAP sensor tube, it'd purr but shake again if put back on. Now I still have the irratic rev issue but dettaching the map sensor tube doesn't help anymore :(

Actually it was soooo long ago, sorry I confused myself! I did disconnect the plug which made no difference. The tube I dettached was the small tube linked to the idle control valve!
