o/t any golf mechanics on here

sorry this is a bit ot but im really struggling with a golf i have, its a 1.9 tdi on a x plate and the problem is this
it will not tick over, anything below a 1000 rpm and it cuts out, it runs perfect but will just not tick over, the pump has been changed as has anything else we can think of, took it to vw and they said it was the head gasket, i mean ffs, and they call themselves qualified
the only thing we have not changed is the ecu
has anyone on here got any idea at all what the problem could be,

Have you tried..
Temp sensor
throttle body, either new, programmed or re aligned
map sensor
maf sensor.

Has the same cutting out problem, changed a bunxh of things and has been on disagnostics twice, i ended up un plugging my map sensor and my polo runs fine now. No cutting out or anything.

tried everything m8, i was dumb founded when vw said it was headgasket
my garage has got Â£1500 of diagnostic equipment coming monday so w'ell have a play with it, but i thought id just put a post on here just incase someone else has come accross this problem.
