How much more?

I don't believe it.

In the same week that the VW dealer took Â£77 off me to fix the brake light switch, now the ABS warning light has gone on. That'll easily be another Â£90 or more to fix (if I bother, but don't really want to loose the ABS) And the rear washer doesn't work and the washer fluid leaks into my boot.

How much more can go wrong? I thought VWs were meant to be reliable.

I'm starting to loose patience - I've had it less than a month. I can't afford to spend this kind of money evey month just to keep it on the road.

hey mate, my bro had the same problem, his abs light came on, but when he stabbed the brakes, it went off, turned out it was one of the rear speed sensors or something like that!

good guess at teh 90 squid, i think thats how much it cost to fix it! if they've done something to the brakes, mayb u could try blaiming them, mayb it was there fault!

brake light switch can be done diy a lot cheeper using hand tools and common sense
the abs will prolly be the rear left abs, sped sensor. lift the rear seat and check the connectors on the left hand side (theres 2 iirc). if tat doesnt work go to a kwik fit type place and get a free brake check at the rear and get them to clean up the abs sensor
the bor problem will be a split pipe ahich can be fixed by removing the boot trim (2 phillips screws, oe in each handle) and then pulling at the clips. youll prolly then see the hose inside is either split or has come off, either reattach or splice in a new piece using small diameter brass tube (from model shops) and a new bit of tube.

I had the same problem with the rear wash/wipe, I think it is a common problem with this model of Polo. Is your Polo not covered by warranty still? I got mine done under warranty you see...

Yes, VW have a reputation for reliability but my theory is that they are good at engineering/merchanical side of things whereas they are not so great with electronics hence always seem to be the electrical bits that let you down (ABS, electric windows, etc etc), whereas the Japanese are great with electrics...

Cheers for the tips - I've calmed down now and the ABS light has gone off again. I know it would have been cheaper to do the brake light switch myself, but I wanted to try out my local VW dealer and also get them to reset the computer. Basically, they ripped me off which doesn't make me wanna go back there again.

Sadly it's just out of warranty, it ended a month before I got it.
