ok i got the package out of the postal office at friday morning .
first i drilled a 80mm hole in the plastic wall behind the front grill the outside diameter of the air duct is 66mm
i've fitted the air funnel there and i had to "shave" a little piece from the grill.
ofcourse i took some pictures from my uk mates: 8)

i had no choice i had to cut a small piece from the grill because of the air funnel

i have a few questions
1. do i have to clean my air filter more often now?
2. there is any chance that it can suck rains or bugs ? is it dangerous to the engine in anyway?

eh double post :P

2. Can have bugs fly in, but that's what the filters there for, to stop them getting in. So damage cannot be caused by bugs, debris or stones etc entering the engine/throttle body :) Water wont cause damage either, so the rains not a worry.

1. Yes, especially in the autumn, you sometimes get odd leaf debris in the box, open the box, shake it out and place it back in.

sorry wasn't around for a while.

yeah still got the noise even though it's fainter from the inside of the car (but near the grill its quite loud)

so why i can't hear this sound? maybe because it's inbox filter?

there is any sound resonator in the 6n2 air box that can be remove?

you should be hearing it. try revving the engine brutally. when i'm driving i can barely here it

My noise only improved abit, but in the higher rev range it was a lot more noticeable, other thing is I cut out the breather connection completely as well as removed the center supports of the pipe to allow less restriction on my 6n1.

Next big stage is the filter, the standard filter is pretty poo, sounds better without the filter by miles, so I will be replacing it with the oval K&N one.

i don't know if it's in my mind but after 3000 rpm i feel a strong push forward

i'm very happy with the results



thinking about my next step now.. someone have any ideas?

another picture without the grill, looks agressive eh?

mine feels the same, especially after 40mph it feels like its got more umph!

More ideas would be to see if the filter can be changed to something better, remove the breather inlet, i found the breather disconnected felt abit more responsive (but the effects could be different for you).

Don't know how things are in the 6n2 but in the 6n1 the inlet pipe that sticks out of the box (which your new cold feed is linked to) has a huge bit of support in the 6n1, so removing it could help slightly. More ideas are bigger duct diameter (like 90mm+) followed by a reducer, this creates a ram effect at higher speeds, increasing flow pressure and lowering air restriction.

EDIT:

Another idea is insulate that cold feed, you'd be surprised how warm that pipe will get, I haven't done this yet but its on the 100% to do list, need to look around for a suitable material, so maybe someone can advise you on that.

If you disconnect the breather give your throttle body a clean too. It'll be covered in oil from the breather. Without the breather the higher the airflow in.

If you cant hear much of an induction roar its because of the standard air box. I think its been designed to be as quiet as possible.
