Stage two question

Post by KennyPOLO_Gti »

How essential is it to have a FMIC for stage two? Would I do any damage not having one? ANy is there a cheaper equivalent as a honestly cant really afford to spend that kind of money on one :(

Kenny - I like customer to have full turbo back exhaust and intake mods... FMIC not essential.

You just have to drive a little according to the size of intercooler.... I mean by this that you must understand that the more boost you run the hotter the charge gets and the little standard intercooler gets hot very quick and so cannot get the charge temps down for long...

So you have a run on boost then take it easy until intercooler chills a bit.. then go back on boost..

The FMIC with its size and location means it stays loads cooler and can constantly take enough heat out of the charge to make good power..

Cheaper temporary option for you... run an intercooler spray.... water pump and jets to throw water on the intercooler.. this helps it to stay much cooler ;-)

awesome told me is is not essential, but as you can probably expect the car will run hotter still, mine on the standard in on stage 2 was having temps of almost 70 degrees

this fell to just 21 degrees with the front mount fitted
