AirCon light now on all the time? fault...

Post by rupees_al »

Hi all

wonder if anyone has come across this before or knows what might be the prob...
jumped in our 6n estate 1.6 S99 tonight and noticed (not for first time) that when i brake the light on the rear screen demister switch lights up... off when driving on when braking... works fine if pressed.
but tonight i also noticed that the aircon and recirculation switch lights are glow orange all the time. press the button to turn them on and they go green (ie on) turn them off and they are a dim orange.

now i wondered is it a relay that is failing, corrosion on the back of the fuse board or light board behind center console...

tia for any help, i have searched but nothing seemed to be the same.

the plug/gromet for the throttle cable was not fitted correctly for a short while so water was getting onto drivers side. which is why i think it may have wet the fuse board and is now oxidising.

Possibly an earth fault, check all the earth points around the dash.

Thats the best i can think of at the mo, check around the area of your water ingress first, especially if corrosion/oxidisation on an earth point stopping good conductivity.
