Not having a good week!!

Post by charlievwp »

Got my new fog lights to fill the ghastly holes in the new honeycombe grilles......and they don't fit.
Tried contacting the fleabay seller twice but he appears to be ignoring me :x
....So the front end still looks unfinished and it looks like I may have to go through a long drawn-out battle to get a refund. :(

Today I discovered 3 lovely scratches on my passenger door from where a vivaro van (from work) has opened its door against it.
Looks as though the door has swung open pushing the panel in a bit and bedding into the plastic bump-strip.
They must've known they'd done it as they would've had to tug the door a bit back out.
Really annoyed me as i'm good mates with all the guys there and they know how much I love my polo. They were obviously too gutless to tell me even though it would've gone on the company insurance anyway!
SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T CARE??!!

Next action is to see if my boss will help me to cover the cost. I have a friend who used to work in a bodyshop and he suggested it may be cheaper and quicker to try and get hold of a replacement bump strip and then get a 'chips-away' type company to tidy up the other two marks.
(silver-lining may be that I have a couple of bonnet stone chips that need doing too)

Oh well, grumble over....I almost feel a little better!

Here's the bump strip damage:

I will be - they're all due in on Friday morning so i'll be going round inspecting them all!
Only thing is that I doubt any of my blue will be on there - looks like their white has transferred only. Should be enough marks to find them though!
RAMPAGE!!

Grr that sucks. Hope you find the bugger who did it and punish them..!

Don't worry, i feel your pain. In the last 2 weeks I've had 2 dents (one from my neighbour opening his auto garage door into my car, and the other was a door into the metal door panel.) :(

It's cost me £90 in PDR (paintless dent repair) and there are still some scratches where the dents were.. massively sucks.

BTW did you manage to get some different bulbs? When you do, I dont mind helping you out fitting and wiring them in!

The bulbs were ok - came with the fogs.
My boyf tried fitting them later and says they're definitely wrong.
Anyone know how much VW charge for fogs?

I'm not fussed about the wiring etc just yet - just wanna get it looking good then worry about them actually working later (sometime before mot in 2010!!)

In the last three years I've seen I think only three girls to remap their cars....

Its just a pleasent change sometimes to speak to a girl...

So Charlie... please can you spread the word that I am Girl friendly... and I mean that in a nice way... like I talk to you like normal....

Sure you will know what I mean ???

lol, think I know what you mean J - thanks

Bit of good news today....spoke to my boss and he has said that he'll make sure it gets sorted out on the company insurance.
We'll just nominate one of the work vans to blame it on!

He also asked if I had managed to get my fogs sorted, and when I said "no", he told me that when I get the side-strip from VW - pick myself up some new fogs too!! YIPEEEEEE :D As a kind of inconvenience pay!

Things are looking up! :P

BTW: Still no response from the eBay seller for the original fogs....they look like 2002-2005's.....reckon I could sell them on easy enough?

Got a price for the replacement side strip from VW...
£103.18 painted.
The strip itself is just £44 but the pearl effect paint bumps it right up.

Fogs from VW quoted £46.20 each
The parts-guy there told me that there was no point me buying the fogs as they cannot be installed in my car!!
What a load of rubbish....daa managed it ok!
Why do they give advice when they don't actually know anything!! GRRRR
