fitting HID's

Post by brad mole »

hi everyone ive just bought a set of hid's from hids4u, i was just wondering if there are any tips on fitting them, as ive heard they are pretty hard to fit and you have to modify your lights slightly, also the beam patterns are supposed to be hard to keep accurate, so any tips from anyone? 8)

They are dead easy to fit mate all you need to do is drill a 21mm hole in the rubber seal on the back of the light, everything else is straight forward. If you need a hand mate I aint too far from Newcastle

No bother at all mate, only took me about twenty minutes to fit them to my 9n, hardest part is deciding where to locate your ballast

Yeh they're not hard to fit at all. As Chewy said, hardest part is finding a good place for the ballasts. The kit I had required a 25mm drill hole, not 21mm? Which ever one you need, make sure you buy it. No point in cutting corners, they're cheap from ScrewFix and B&Q.

does anyone know if i should connect the HIDS with the beams pointed right down, or up, or in the middle? (when i say beams pointing i mean the thing which adjusts the level from inside the car)

Set them standard height. And if you find they are dazzling alot of people (you'll get alot of people flashing you) just angle them down a bit.

What bulb type did you order, the standard or antiglare?

They should go in fine. Although on the 6N2 full beams you have to reverse one of the mounts. Basically on xenon bulbs, the metal strip faces down. You'll know what I mean when you look at the bulb.

right i have just fitted, them, or at least attempted anywa, they come on as blue and die down after 10 seconds or so to a yellowy/standard looking colour, i bought the anti glare 8000k ones from hids4u and cost £210.

everything went ok up until i had to actually fit the new hid bulb in the light, it didnt seem to go in securely, anyone able to help me on this?
