My 9N's Past & Present

Hi everyone. Thought I'd post up my polo's past an present. I read the forums very regularly, but don't post as often! Today was a good day and had the afternoon free, so decided to get some pics up

My old oceanic green 9N1.2E (used to share with my brother, now my brothers!) and my new olympic blue 9N3 1.2E, which I've had for a couple of months now.

The 9N's Spec.

Parrot 3200LS Bluetooth kit.

iPod kit fitted and ipod located in dash cubby box.

Parrot bluetooth kit fitted in ashtray, and microphone on 'A-pillar'

Plans for my 9N3 in the future

Lowering (unsure exactly what tho)
GTI Headlights
GTI grill with GTI badge removed and honeycomb lower grills with fogs
GTI rear spoiler
GTI rear valance with GTI style exhaust tip.
Glossy B pillar with a light window tint
S2000 enfig aerial ordered.

This car is going to be my runabout until I finish uni, and can afford something with a bit more 'poke' in a couple of years! But until then I'm very happy

Cheers Meeky, I thought it would just tidy things up a bit, and mean that its a bit handier to get to. As apposed to reaching into the glove box or somewhere.

I contimplated fitting the dock that comes in the newer Match models but it would have meant that the ipod was on view all the time. I can still prop it up in the cubby box while on the move if I want to see artist and track names etc.

And the rubber gromit came with the kit, and keeps things looking standard and tidy. Scary thing was driling a 13mm hole for it though! And finding space for the interface under the HU, as I already had the Parrot loom and interface box in there as well. Theres not alot of space behind the dash now!

Only dilema is they are harder to clean

N.B: Is that an actual gti back box....or an aftermarket powerflow one?

Thanks POLOZ, yeah would have been my brother. Probably over visiting his girlfriend. I'm a student at jtown also, but on a placement year this year.

The exhaust is actually one of Halfrauds finest exhaust tips, but looks just like a GTI's backbox!

A nice subtle addition I think!

It sticks out a bit much for my liking, but you can't mount it any further back. Fortunately the backbox on my 2007 1.2 is different and I will hopefully be able to mount mine further back.

Yeah I'm definately going to have to invest in a cleaning brush, this one has good reports and seems to last for quite a while.

Nice Cars! Interesting place to hide the Ipod!!

Quick question, does ur 'VW ipod Connection', give u visual displays on ur headunit? Does it switch off when ur engine cuts off? And where and how much did u get it 4, if u dont mind me asking.

The vw ipod connection uses the same functions as the 6disc CD changer.
Unfortuantely doesn't show song names or anything on the Headunit screen, but does show whats playing on the ipod's screen.

Discs 1 to 5 on the headunit equate to the first 5 playlists on my ipod. (i think!?) And disc 6 selects all songs, therefore when you hit the mix button all your music library is shuffled.

To be honest the connection is a bit dear. I got on of ebay for Â£60, but when I got it it didn't work! I then bought one from the dealers and sent the other one back. RRP is Â£103 I believe! And Â£155 fitted by VW. I haggled with the the dealer and got it for Â£83

To be honest I don' think it is value for money and it can be slow to skip through tracks. But I wanted to keep everything looking original.

I think it turns off when ignition is out, but I would have to check. It also charges your ipod on the go.
