Smoke from breather- yes normal. sucking noise- yes normal. Buzzing sound, something vibrating maybe?

I'd try get that filter away from the engine a bit, I've seen it put where your air feed runs from the grill, if it's fits thats a perfect spot. Either that or further to the left by the belts.

I agree, the problem I have is sealing it.
That 90 degres peice is a perfect fit, when I introduce tube I feel its not so well sealed.
Is it ok there for now? I am guesing it will just be a little warm. I need to go get some more supplies to feed it down.

The buzzing sound is for about 5 seconds under ignition, I have heard it before it just sounds louder. I think its the fuel injection or something, I hope

I have re directed the filter but it doesnt sound nearly so good,

A more pressing issue I have though.. Ever since I have done this there is a smell of petrol fumes coming into the car. I think its my beather and the smoke it is letting of?

Try keeping the 90% pipe there, and connecting a pipe from that to the filter further down.

It's arite there as it is now, but there are better ways of doing it. I wouldn;t stress to much for now.

The smell of petrol is also completely normal, this occurs because your breather is located up near your fan induct, so you get the full waft of it when it smokes. Mine does this also, I really should get a small hose and locate it elsewhere in the bay.

^ lol, I was starting to feel kinda dizzy.
I have re located it using some old bike handle bars as pipe. This is temporary until I get some proper rubber tubing. I have mounted the breather just behind the front grill. So far I cant smell anything. 8)

The induction kit seems to be ok I have rotated it round from were it was before and it now points right. I also have a cold feed going to it, temps seem ok so far.

I will try and wash the car this weekend and get some up to date photos up.

Ok, I am buying a few new bits. Since I have had no luck looking for wheels I am going to concentrate on performance.
First of I am going to buy some proper samco tube and route the filter further down. Some rubber tubing also. I may also order a strut brace but will this 6n one fit my 6n2?

does a lower one mean engine bay strut one? Or is it an axel mounted one?

i may also order some bosch spark plugs for some peace of mind when I rag it :lol:

Some greenstuff front pads might also be nice for some brake feel.

that picture you have used there is my old motor :D this is what it looked like in the end:

and also, the crank case breather should not be an aftermarket breather, you need to use the existing breather on the plastic engine cover, by using it you have to butcher your air box, either that or just put your cover back on, the breather looks like this:

this breather acts like a diagprahm, it only allowes air in and not out, this is where your getting your smoking from! mine eventually chucked out every single drop of oil out!

So you are saying that I need to use a one way breather?
I thought everyone used aftermarket breathers with no problems.
I also thought air had to come out of the crankcase otherwise excess gasses would build and pressurize the crank.

I have a DOHC engine though not a mpi, dont know if it makes a difference.
This is bad news because I dont really want to hack up my original air box.

well basically Chris if you have that diagrham type breather on your standard air box mate, i would use it, anything that doesnt get chucked out will get burnt in the engine, try and find an old second hand air box?

So that hole in the original airbox that the crankcase pipe went into just drew air from the airbox? I though it put the excess gasses from the crank through the engine and out through the exhaust.

Ok, since I dont want to loose oil I will look into how I will do this.

Has anyone else had the problem of loosing oil?

Hang on mate, maybe we are little confused or at least I am.
In the pic you have a breather on the same pipe I do. I only have one pipe on my DOHC engine. The mpi has various pipes loose once you dissconnect the original airbox.

yeah there has been a few people that have expeiriencd a similar problem, i think Tim was one? and he had a K&N filter i reckon,

so you havent got one on the crankcase then? as the one that has the RED filter attacthed to it, isnt the crankcase breather, its jsut a breather that releases gases, the other one that is on the crankcase is the vaccum pipe ;) just did some research and it doesnt have one on the DOHC so your fine mate ;)

yeah, most people install the oil catch tanks, keeps your bay nice and clean aswell if you like a clean one :D
