Are you referring to HID xenon lights like mercs and BMWs have or just uprated xenon filled bulbs?

if its HIDs, it requires new bulbs, and ballasts to power the bulbs which comes as a kit.

If its just brighter bulbs, its a straight swap.

Ohh stinger. Is there not some sort of bypass product available that eliminates that?

Have any of the 9n lads had any problem with headlight beam alignment after insalling a HID kit? I've heard there may be potential issues due to us not having projector headlamps?

Thanks
Ash :)

II have had mine in for about 4 month now and aint had any problems, only thing is they might not pass an mot due to the beam pattern, but just stick some normal bulbs in for it :D

The beam is wide and very bright, A few mates have complained when travelling in front of me, others dotn' seem to care at all.

I usually have the setting on "2" in the car so I'm sure not to dazzle people needlessly as they produce plenty of light.

Mine will have been in use for 4 and half years now. Never replaced the bulbs and I haven't had to replace them due to failure or for MOT. The lights shouldn't fail an MOT as this has been covered in a post by Dino (search his username in this section of the forum for it) however get pulled over by VOSA and you will have to change them back. :)

what does can bus engine managment mean then? I was going to order a set of the £99 set of hids off a hids4u. Does this mean they will not work? When I had my 6n I got this set and they were fine. Any Help would be great. Cheers

CAN BUS uses bulb warning systems, which can flag up an error in the engine management and turn off the feed to the headlight to protect the circuitry.

6ns use a different BUS to manage the engine, which doesnt have this advanced functionality

So if I buy the cheaper set from hids4u them will not work? Was going to buy two sets one for dipped and one for main beam. Dont fancy buying the other set twice.

If you are in this category:
Volkswagen 2004 on Golf V, Passat, Polo, Touareg, Touran and Transporter
Then you will need the Ultimate Kit.

I see they now do Anti-Glare bulbs which is interesting. A definite must for those with reflector headlights, as they create a huge amount of glare.
