Polo in A&E :(

Took my polo for its first trip n the motorway, start hearing a ringing noise which worsens on my way home from Gloucester, it starts slipping outta 5th gear every time i wud break slightly, exist the motorway and have trouble getting it into 1st or any gear. Wiggled it about and then it went into gear grinding like fooook just about got it home with the exhauts blowing also. in the morning was stuck in gear cud not move it out of first for a good 40 minutes. took it to a mechanic (dont no how!) heres the damage!!

1.new Gearbox (bearings totally shagged etc)
2.new clutch needed(rekons another 6 months u will be changing that!)
3.Cat and Flex bit on the exhaust shagged(might of been due to some nasty speed bumps and cliff drops at the safari park)

and the mileage of the car is 7600

all in all not happy mechanic said with labuor quoted 950 all in

That's sucks mate, I feel for you. if the cat is brand new, your own gearbox reconditioned (not a third party one) and a decent clutch kit put in (SACHS) I'd be happy to pay that.

As I said before though alot of garages have a tendency to flog off cheap parts to each other though, and charge you extortionate amounts.

Hope it all gets fixed al right!

as tim said if thats all new parts id snatch his ahnd off thats alot less than i paid about a year and a half ago and mine was gearbox and clutch!! not good day!
