What a joke ! New key cost...

Post by pwafer »

I only got one key with my car, so at lunch today went to see how much a new one would be.

Right... here goes the stealers 'budget' cost:

£30 for the KEY (metal bit)
£30 for the transponder (plastic bit with lock/unlock buttons)
£40 for a monkey to learn it to my car.

£100 FOR A SPARE FRIGGIN' KEY ! ! ! !

Anyone know where I could get one from... a wee bit cheeper ?

It's not the world where you can take the car around the corner to the little garage to get it fixed, or go to the key cutters on the market and get a key for £2.

Don't think its that easy. The key comes with some kind of chip integrated into it and acts as a key for the immobiliser, that's why it costs so much. I've lost my spare as well. Does anybody know how much it will cost to get a new key without the unlock and lock buttons (Doesn't come with the standard alarm)
