Polo GT
I've Seen a polo Gt for sale and I was wondering if it is over priced. It is a 1992 J reg GT coupe. It has 34k with fsh and a full mot. 1 lady owner and alarm. Im thinking of getting it and I was wondering what you all thought. It is from a garage and it costs £1300. Is that a lot?
How fast are they 0-60? And what bhp are they?

Hmmm... I dunno. Depends on the overall condition I guess.
Step 1 - get thee to Parker's online 2nd hand car valuation site for a rough idea. Dunno if they'll have a price point for 34k, but you can try to extrapolate. http://www.parkers.co.uk
For reference, a 1 litre CL of the same vintage is probably worth about £700-800 with 50k on the clocks and otherwise good condition. (That's only my own estimate
)
EDIT: p***! I went over to the actual site... they now charge for valuations on cars older than 1995!
I think possibly there's some other site I was actually thinking of (as it also looks dramatically different to what I remember) but I'm buggered to remember what.. anyone got a clue?
Edit again: But, their general used MkIII buying guide states that used value for all models and ages is "£650 to £1275" with special editions worth about 5% (so it may just be worth it, if it's mint?)

If it's in excellent condition with the service history, tax etc it might be worth near that. If it's from a garage you should a years tax & test, but you can usually bargain with garages.
If you want it, go and make them an offer for 1100 cash and see what they say......
Btw the std output figure by vw is 75 hp, cant remember the 0-60 off hand.

Had mine off the clock the other day. Granted it's chipped, so the limiter's higher - but in the course of a 5 minute blast on the A1 I got it to hit the limiter in 5th. I think the G40 exhaust and manifold/downpipe helps.dub envy wrote:mine won't go over 118. Exactly the same gearing as an '87 Golf GTI 8v.
[Edited to add that I've currently got a GT lump and box in my car, contrary to what my sig says! The G40 will be back though...]
