Broken boot lock... need replacement.

Post by Aaz_6n2 »

i broke my book lock on my polo 6n2 because a bag got caught in the lock and i lifted the boot handle to hard and think snapped the spring that unlocks the boot, just wondering if anyone knows where i can get one delivered or if anyone has a spare and if i need to get it specially fitted by a proffesional or if its a D.I.Y job

I would imagine it would be fairly easy to do yourself. undo the two rox screws located in tha handles of the bootlid, and carefully unclip the plastic tabs of the trim to have a better look.

Check out local scrap yards for a replacement part. If no joy then try vagparts.com or dealers.

Youd probs need a whole new lock mechanism, which means removing a handle which is totally impossible to do without damaging something!!

yea i thought i would but how much would that cost... good thing it still locks because i like my sub :) ... also while another question about remote central locking anyone enquired on how much it would be to get the flip out key with boot included from VW or anyway else wanna see how much as a rough guideline and cba to go down to a vw dealer

VW keys dont even think about it. Its a totally different CL system to do that - what car have you got?

As for the lock, it has to be made as the barrel has to be made up and they are stamped into the lock mechanism, so it could be over £50
