rubbing problems...please help.

hi there,

iv got a new polo gti in candy white. i fitted eibach pro street coilies at the start of the year running original monza 16's and original dunlop tyres. everything running fine with a decent drop in height - no problems.

I bought a set of anthracite audi tt comp wheels 17's which came with nankang ns2's 215/40/17.

when first fitted every single bump would be a harsh plastic/tyre rubbbing scrapping noise. it was really bad. i took off the front wheels and jacked up. adjusted the eibach's up 4 threads which is higher than i would like. but its still rubbing..

i think the problem may be to do with the clip thing thats in the top of the inside arch. also the undertray seems to be tight and secure but seems to be sitting quite low?

i know people have these wheels on the 9n's and have no problems so what am i doing wrong?? do i just need 205's instead of 215's to give more stretch??

here is some pics (sorry quality is s**t was in a rush - its freeeezin!!!). you can see how close the tyre is to the clip and the height of the undertray.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's possibly your tyres mate, you want 205/40/17, slimmer width so they won't stick out as much. you'd be suprised at the difference

yeh was thinking that myself. i was searching the forum and i know jeff was running 205's on his when he had his comps.

think thats the solution then yeh? hmmm what tyres, dont fancy the nangkangs lol i was planning on changing them soon anyway. any recommendation tim??

I'd recommend Toyo Prxoes T1-Rs. Great price, great tyres. They look awesome too

I would agree with Tim_GTi.....205/40/R17.....is the correct.....but its very confusing as the BBS rim on POLO DUNE come with 215/40/R17 tyres.....although they are not lowered....so that might explain it....

But again you could get away with eibach SPACERS......

you need to take out the screws in the arch bend the metal lip forward fold the arch liner behined them and bed then back over it to secure it, then putt your arches out slightly with your hand they are very thin! i had to doi this with my 18"x8 and they had a 3mm spacer on and never caught then, also itsa cos the tyres are 215 and the offset is 33mm i think on them TTs.

alrite m8 i had the same problem with my on the front its the screw that u can see in ur pictures i took my wheel off and slowly bent the bracket up but be careful cos u can risk denting hte arch form the out side but that solved it for me me i m fitting a new bumper soon and i tak a pick and show u mine if it b any help to ya
