Hi mikerd4,

I believe the W8 light will in fact fit. Check if there's about an inch of space between the regular light, and the winderhandlethingie. If there is, you should be ok. I vaguely remember pics of the light with the manual sunroof, but still- better check in advance.

The sunroof *may* be converted to electric, but I've never seen it done before. You'd be one of the first!

What lights did you want to change? The dials, or the assorted dash lights?

I was thinking of changing the dash lights (speedo etc and maybe the dash button illumination if its possible.
As for being the first to do it with an electric sunroof well I will have to think about it.
Surely someone on here has fitted the W8 light to their Polo?

I think you'd be the one of the first to convert the manual sunroof to electric; the W8 has been fitted to cars with sunroofs. Can't really find a pic but it's been done. Check if you have the space you need and see if it'll go.

The dash button illumination is probably easier than the speedo lights. I think Col has changed the Leds on his dials. Lots of work IIRC.

Any chance of a DIY fact sheet on how it was done? I know its cheeky to ask when someone has sweat blood and tears to do it. On the positive side I live in Ireland so you wont bump into me and be shown up haha

A guide on the W8 light? It should be in the DIY section somewhere. Can't help you on the other issues as I have yet to try.

*sorry*

Oh right, the dash lights... No guide AFAIK, but maybe the search turns up something?

go to the memberlist and search for 'Col'

as far as i'm aware he's one of the very few people that have swapped dash lights sucessfully.

Was a complete bastard of a job by the sounnds of it as well
