Polo Kangerooing

Post by chris_newton »

Apologies if i have posted this in the wrong section first time..

Hi all i have a 1999 V reg Polo 1.4 CL and it has started to judder / kangeroo when i drive. The thing is it does not do it all the time, i will try and explain what it does.

When you first start it up and its idling, you can sometimes here it, its like its missing a beat and the whole car shudders as if its trying to cut out for a second. when it does this i know its going to kangeroo when i drive it, and it does it in all gears when i press accelerator it judders.

However when i start the car up sometimes its fine and driver perfectly BUT if i am in say the wrong gear and it judders naturally then this seems to start it off and it will do it from then on.

I have had new spark plugs put in it last week and its still the same, my mechanic said it could be the spark plug leads but i had new ones last year so it seems unlikely that this could be the problem.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks all

Sounds electrical, or possibly fuelling. My guess is if you have already changed plugs & leads your next stop is the coil-pack (cost £25ish) & then dizzy cap & rotor arm.

Go for the coil-pack first, as this will cause your symptoms if it is starting to give up. Plus only takes 10mins to fit, even for the novice!

One here on Ebay.

Hope that helps
