Thanks for your reply.
Are you a car technician? . . how did you know what to do with regards to taking off the old one and putting on the new one?
Are there instructions and what-not with the part?
Could you post a picture of your car so I can see if I really like it.
You've done a nice seamless job on removing the GTi logo. Nice one.

Hey to get the old grill off is simple.
Open the bonnet and you will see at lea\st four biggish black screws above the grill, these hold the top of the grill to the bumper by some vents in bumper)
Then to either side of these there is a bolt, which needs undoing.
Then if you get your hands in between the grill slats with a flat object, like screwdriver. There are four tabs you need to push and lift which unclip the grill.
Once they are all done the grill should pull out.
Think thats all there is to it if i remeber correctly lol.
The new grill just pushes in, make sure you get the tabs on the lower part of the grill to catch and screw all the screws back in!
And done.

polo1.9TDI SPORT put it perfectly.
Once you have popped the bonnet, it'll all be pretty clear. The screws are all visible to you (torx screws)
Once you have all the screws out, you'll just need to flips the tabs and wiggle/pull the grille out.
The only other recommendation I can add is to have a magnet/magnetic screwdriver available because if you drop a screw and it doesn't fall straight out the bottom of the car - it's a bugger to get it back!
Good luck anyway...let us know how you get on.
As requested, here's a before/after shot:

I think i'm going to go for the chrome grill.
The only difference is that it would seem where the GTi grill uses your Volkswagen Badge. . . .the chrome one comes with it's own badge so I presume you have to take off your original badge.
Is it also a case of a few screws? . . . this will be my first ever car "mod."
Exciting and Scarey.

The badge is attached to the grille so it comes off in one piece.
The new grille came with a badge too so straight on in its place (like the one you're looking at) No need to remove any badges.
Why can't you put fogs on yours? The 'E' and the 'SE' do not come with them standard but there's nothing to stop you installing them.
VW will probably say you can't because there is no wiring but you'd just have to get hold of that, some lower grilles with fog fitments and a new switch for the dash.
daa709 has installed them on his ok.
Should be sorting my fogs out in the next couple of months.

I wouldn't really be up for that much modification. That is too much for me to cope with - I should just be able to handle the grille.
I would consider getting the bumper strips in diamond pearl black like my car - but since it's black you don't really notice them anyway.
I'm also going to try and clean my back drum breaks. My Polo only has brake calibers at the front so the back just has these metal things that are going rusty so I'm going to try and find a spray that will sort that out.
I don't see why they didn't make them stainless steel as they ruin the look of alloys.
thanks for your info.
Aaron.

May be pricey getting your strips colour coded...
I'm replacing my passenger door one (3-door) after some damage and its costing over £100 so could work out a fair bit to do the whole car.
The paint costs more than the strips do!
I'm not sure where VW stand on painting your existing ones instead of replacing then with painted ones?
