Hi
I think this is a common problem - I have just had the pedal box fail!
What do I do know?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Polo pedal box failure
Go to your nearest local dealer and ask if they could replace the box under a 'good will gesture' seeing as they failed to make then appropriately! My mate went to the 'Upper Thames' ne in London and they said, "no reason not to". Thats is a shame though seeing mine failed twice in a week and I spent £400 for both inc labour before knew this!!!
When you replace it, try getting the new one strengthened by attaching a metal piece where it fails and welded properly.

May come along once car moving again!!
I called VW dealer...wouldn't entertain the idea of a goodwill gesture as the car was too old! It had to be less than 8 years old with full dealer service history!! Wouldn't even give me a quote to do the work without them 'investigating' the problem which would cost £110 + VAT up front!
The part itself (pedal box) is only £28 + VAT
BUT
cos it's modified you need the other bits and bobs (bushes, sleeves pedals etc)
which bump the price to £124 + VAT
I have now given it to a local german and Jap car specialist to sort (think I gonna cry now!)
I'll keep you posted...

Thats usually what they say about older motors but my mate asked. Hope I won't need it.
I don't think having a modified car has anything to do with it frankly! The only other thing you may do is change the clutch cable aong with the box. Tell the garage to weld the culprit part to properly so it never happens again. If not ten it may happen again if your clutch becomes stiff and puts strain on the cable and pedal box.
