How much work wud u hav to do to mk4 arches to fit 17s??

I want areospeed rs gts to fit my polo!

sorry to jump ya post mate but
also need to know this as my current 195's rub on full lock, how much am i looking at getting the inner arch sorted?what methods would be used.

im looking to get 17s with 205 tyres

If your paying dont pay more than Â£250.

From what i can remember [to do it properly] you need to warm the metal up, fix a metal arm (called an Arch Dolly) to your hub and just move this round the arch. This will the flare the metal work out so you dont scrub.

Of course the scrubbing could be resolved other ways.

What wheels are you running [et] and what tyres? also what suspension have you got?

answer to the first post, i've been running 17's for nearly a year now, they do scrub on full lock in reverse

but only rub up front if i'm bracking hard and turning(which you shouldn't do anyway) so go for it!
p.s. mine are 205/40/17 and my mate has the RSGT's in 19's on his rover 25 - seen a couple of 18's round here but think 17's would look cool on ya polo!

Fianlly! someone else that gets that!

have you been able to work out what it is? Mine doesnt scrub at all going forwards but does on full lock i reverse

very f*****g wierd.

17s require arch rolling and liners removed.
rear ones are less of a pain than the front ones. front ones will rub at the top of the arch when the wheel is turned.

im not sure of the offset etc as the alloys come with the car, but they are golf mk1or2 gti alloys, and the tyres are goodyear 195/50/15 and i have a standard suspension also, not sure why its rubbing in the firstl place

They rub because the tyres are too big. It's just *slightly* too big, but it could be enough to make them rub. The right size would be 195-45-15. If the wheels are meant for a Mk2 or even 3 Golf, then that should not be the problem. The offset and PCD is more or less the same.
