1.4 8v conversion

Hi Guys,At the moment ive got a 1.0 mk4 polo which is pretty tidy and very nice to drive.acceleration is pretty good just top end speed lets it down a wee bit.So i was thinking its a choice between a 1.9 skoda fabia(after ive got my no claims and pass plus)or the conversion above?is it worth it?any other suggestions?

on my wishlist at the moment is the usual ....
Coilovers
Badgeless grille
ats cups
black seats(currently s**t grey)
and a fair amount of smoothing(rear badge,side indicators and rubber roof strips welded in)
This is going to be a pretty costly root thouggh,just need some decisions making.

May aswell go for the 100bhp 1.4 16v engine.

ello m8 ... if u dont wanna go for the 16v and stay with the 8v... when i have some money in the new year i will have my 8v for sale as i am doin a conversion myself ...

yeh if your gonna spend the money ona conversion you may aswell go the full monty and do a decent engine. the 1.4 8v is alright but its not really that much better then the 1.0l. easier way wud be to put a 1600 head on the 1.0l bottom end.

is that pretty straight forward to do then?
my cars the basic model with no powersteering or anything,i thought itd be easier just to buy a new car.
wont my insurance go through the roof?im paying 1600 as it is third party with ad flux

It is much easier to spend the money and effort on a new car with the engine of your choice. It shouldn't be as expensive as converting your car i'd imagine. The simple reason being that your car is modified with the engine you want so premium goes through the roof with the mods.

With a new car it'll bump up premium too but not as much.

id just like to add that the head on the 1600 looks identical to the 1.0L head so yeh... no real need to bother with the insurance is there then? lol.

Any garage should be able to fit a new head for you. Its simple to do. Doesnt take alot of expertise just someone who knows how to set up the timing on a car properly. Which i do not which is why i havent done my own one yet lol. Though i do a 1600 head going on my 1.4 one day. Its sitting there collectng dust and going rotten at the mo lol

anyone know of any places that do conversions how how much roughly you looking at ?

on a 8v can you just change the head and will you all the ecu and what have you for the head you use ?

you know what thats a good question... i dont know is the truth. I think its not 100% nessesary but to see the best results maybe. well best results would be to have it remapped properly but there you go...

And as long as you supply the bits any garage shud be able to do it i would think as long as your paying them as their is no fabrication required like!
