New Member....
hi guys and girls, new member here, just signed up about an hour ago. I'm 18 and been driving a year, come january, which means i get my first ncb. However now i have a full time job and instead of going to university i decided to earn some cash a new car is definatly needed Wink! For that last year, around a year i brought it, I've been driving a 1.2 16v clio which isn't a bad first car and is definatly helping me learn the basic skills and fun of driving. I've saved hard for a year now since working and have 7k to play with, which with another couple of months wages, selling my car and my bonus i should have around 10k - 11k. I was first thinking, F**K it lets get a clio sport, 2 litre at 18 would turn some heads, but the insurance is ridicolous, so a polo GTi is what im looking at, the new model. 1.8T. As i say my full time job is allowing me to save and pay for the insurance which is around 2-3k but i believe from reviews and pictures of the car its well worth it. Obv you guys will say yes, but is it what its lived up to be? Good car to drive and mess about in and most importantly is it worth me spending a total of 10k on??
cheers, Rodri

i can honestly say mate, fter owning the 2 that the polo is so much better than the clio sport! i had a black 182 before the gti, kept it for 2 months max! it just didnt feel very well built at all!
the only thing is the clio is obviously alot quicker as standard, but now that mine's remapped it passes the clio's all day long!

ye, as i say ive got a clio and its a bag of s**t tbh. its just had mot, service, new cambelt and then y'day on the way back from work an orange light came on the dash and drove slow as if it was struggling to move. inside stuff rattles and what not. do you guys find when you get in a your polo's there safer, more comfortable and when you put your foot down you feel it?

The thing i love about the GTI is its so tuneable compared to the likes of clio sports, fiesta STs etc. A simple remap with no mods can get you to 190-195bhp then a few mods and stage two can see 210-230bhp! A was sittin behind a old S4 the other day and the guy was bootin it off the round about to annoy me but ma wee polo kept behind him thro 2nd and 3rd gear then he did start to pull away and leave me once i hit 100

PROBABLY FOR A VERY EARLY ONE, 06 POVERTY SPEC GTI YEAH
personally i would look for a more spec'd up one, as youll find on german cars, all extras are at cost, but make the car feel nicer, 6 disk or i pod kit, heated seats, leather etc
my cars probably 1 of the most played with ones on here at the min (though a couple of big power polos are being made), im stage 2 with front mount, full milltek and other breathing and heat resisting mods, but with all the chassis and brakes to match its power
my cars all but 230 bhp with 271 ft/lb torques and flies, truely flies, keeps up with my brother in laws 265 bhp played with wrx, so youll find the usual, clio 197, corsa vxr, type r's no problem
mine is a 56 plate with 19k miles on it, bought it from new and absolutely love it, would not even consider getting rid of it for at least another 2 years, its a really fun car to be in, a proper pocket rocket
oh, and welcome to the club, get 1, and you have people in this forum here who can help you make it a monster if you wish

coil pack got changed say a month ago. the thing just stopped working and as im sure you've experienced it just missfires? so left it on the drive for the night and did the same the next morning so had to get that fixed. but last night seems to have worn off, it was working fine today. just hate Renaults tho. That car has caused me nothing but trouble, and considering i was thinking of buying another one im glad ive found a better car to invest money into.

yeye true. robz jus stick with trhe exhaust mate. as you say insurance will f**k me over for anything i do so ive got to take it easy. going from a 1.2 to a 1.8T will scare the s**t out of me as much as possible lol, so just going to take it easy. how much do mods such as remaps and exhaust set people back on insurance, like the increase?
mate get a gti its well worth it. Theyre so comfy to drive and it your age it will seem like a f*****g beast. Its my second plus 100bhp car (first being a mk2 golf 1.0 16v) and although the golf did (allegedly) have more bhp the gti is so much quicker the turbo makes all the difference. Whenever i put my foot down it makes me smile and get excited like i was 16 and frst started driving again!
Only mods ive got are a forge dump valve and a pipercross air filter which has made next to no dfference at all lol.
