A small issue...

Post by randomage »

Back from uni for the winter, and since november, my car seems to have developed a problem. The oil warning light flashes sometimes, despite the oil being plentiful. It isn't always on, which suggests to me a faulty sensor. Any other ideas?

sorted the problem, total idiot thing. turned out the radiator was basically devoid of liquid. luckily, its very cold out at the moment, and that was enough to keep the engine cool! now full of water, and ill get some antifreeze in there asap. silly me...

Random asap probably isn't fast enough to get that antifreeze in! Lol.
I'm sure you know that antifreeze is crucial to your engine, even in summer. But with overnight temperatures getting to -5 at the moment down here on the devon moors, you really are running a serious and highly likely risk of major engine overheating if you drive your car with no antifreeze, even for one day. It would almost be better to have the rad system empty.

I've been lucky with the weather so far, getting antifreeze first thing tomorrow when i take the car to the garage to sort its new problem - a starter motor that won't turn! 3 months old and it packs up. great..... bump start for the win!
