I don't think you could paint them black - the pearlised paint might not attach (or any paint for that matter).

It's the cheap grey bumpy stuff that's on it - i'm not that bothered it's not as noticeable on mine as it is a red car for example.

Besides everyone will be looking dazzlingly into my grille and won't notice everything else :)

I'll post photo's of before and after just to show everyone how easy/deadly it was to do.

I'll end up not being able to get the thing back on and will probably have to drive up to my local garage crying shouting "Please attach the grill PLEASE!" with it partially attached and partially hanging off. :D

I'm in the magical northern ireland.

I'm only joking about my grill falling off  I'm not *that* bad.

The instructions given in this thread should help alot - i'll bring out my laptop and just do it there and then - shouldn't take me long.

If you don't see me post for a few days - I have probably fallen into my engine/grill compartment and will need rescuing.

Hey I have taken a photo of the grille for future reference. . .Those four giant black holes have screws in them - the screws are star shaped (but not star as the normal screwdriver. . .actual *'s).

Does the grill slide out between the top and bottom metal sections? . . The Volkswagen Badge looks as if it's bigger than the metal bit so i'm confused as to how it fits out.

I've just ordered the grille.

I can't wait to put it on - the only dodgy bit would be the 4 clips that you have to unclip with a flat tool - I can't see any clips. :(

They're called 'Torx' screws. You can get hold of a kit pretty easily from most DIY or car shops like halfords.

Thanks for the name of the screws :)

The grille arrived today - I was unaware the Volkswagen badge didn't come with the grill. . .when I take my old grill off can I take out the Volkswagen logo and just clip it into my new grill?

Does it just twist off?

Thanks

Well I'm raging :(

I got the old grille off. Transfered the VW badge. But the vag parts grill didn't have a little lip on the end of the outer clips like my original so it didn't catch on and is now on it's way back to be replaced :(

Hey. After failing in my attempt at fitting the grill and having to put my old one on temporarily I have noticed it doesn't sit flush at the bottom (I can't get the clips to stay clicked). . .does anyone think this might affect the paint when im getting it washed etc as its not completely sealed?

I got my grille on!. . . the only problem is that it unclicked when I closed my bonnet.

Is it just me that has problems getting the thing to stay clicked in?
