6n2 gti gearbox wanted.

my wife's polo gti has decided to be a pain in the ass again. the gearbox has started to whine. so shes had it checked and the garage has said the diff is knackered:( so will be needing a gearbox. the polo was for sale aswell.(but not now)so we've had to go and buy another car as shes a mobile hairdresser and needs a car daily.

so can anyone help?

let me know;)
or if someone wants to make an offer to take it away with a noisy box.

I had the same problem with the whining noise but vw said it is the main pinion bearing. Im getting a new gear box this friday fully re-con for £380. There is a thread that i started in the power train section called Gearbox. Have a read as alot of people got back to me. Where did you take it to get looked at?

i took it to my mates garage.they put it up on there 2 poster and ran it in gear then lifted it up. it was grinding and whining like a right b***h.
but it still ride lovely

thats about 5+ hours from me. i can get a recon box off e-bay for £445. and me and a mate can fit it:)
