New wheels have arrived!

Post by vw-po-low »

Right! my 7x13 classics have arrived.. downfall .. they could only get them wth 175/65 tyres... bit of stretch but very big profile, look daft. So.. the plan is to have 165/55 fitted, nice stretch and a much lower profile. Thats the current size my winters are running. As im pretty skint close to christmas and what not im having 1 wheel done a week, lol. so it will be a while before the photos.

As some of you are aware.. being 13" and hving an ET of 20 i need spacers to clear the calipers. So i'm putting 10mm on the front and 15mm on the rear, as the rears already have slight poke as standard.

I have one photo of the rear. I'll keep updated. The 165/55 tyre will be fitted to the first wheel this weekend.

Cool.

I don't mean to sound stupid . . . but whats the 175/65 mean? . . do certain tyres only fit certain alloys? . . .what would be a low profile tyre and could you put them on any sized wheel?

Have a look at this for info on how to 'read' the figures on your tyre. :)

Rob, those classics will look awesome once you've got some 'stretch' on there! 8)

Cheers Al!

The correct tyre width for a 7j rim is 195. I'm putting a smaller tyre on. a 165 so the yre will be stretched over the rim. And the profile is pretty low. Its normally wider the tyre the lower the profile because it works on a persentage of the width. I could put a 175/50/13 on, lower profile, but i want more stretch.

Having another done on the 30th. Also picking some Spacers up tomorrow off Clayton to clear the Calipers. I'll then stick the complete classics on the rear and the tyres off the wellers will be swapped onto my front classics. :D
