San Marino Wheels

Post by vespapete »

Can anybody advise on repair/treatment for what is i think a common problem with San Marinos, with the outer trim of the wheel "coroding" water getting under the coating? Are they covered by the VW warranty.

Yes they are. So long as they're on the car they were originally supplied with, VW probably wont authorize a claim if they aren't. In all circumstances they must be undamaged and original. Don't know if you're aware but those are BBS made wheels and this problem commonly occurs due to use of harsh wheel cleaning chemicals.

Best places to reburb this type of wheel are Pureklas whom I use. Lepsons also are very good. They will bolt polish and laquer lips of your wheels properly by splitting the rims. Normal mobile refurbishers don't do this, and will probably just spray silver.

Hi, thanks very much for the info. I did not know they where BBS, and am i right in thinking from what you are saying that they are proper split rims, not fakes?
Lepsons are a couple of miles from me but will try main dealer, just bought car from them and wheels fitted to car from new.
