Revving at 3000rpm

Hi,
i am new to this site, and wondered if you could help me ?

My sister has a 1996 vw polo 1.4 and it has started constintly revving at 3000rpm, does anyone know what it could be ?

Check the throttle body, could be the throttle body needs aligning through VAG-COM or the cables stuck at a guess...
