If your engine cover says 8v and looks like this without the cover:

AFAIK it doesn't have 8v written on the cover at all.
When i get it back, i'll take the cover off and have a look.

it will say 1.4 MPI. MPI stamp means its an 8v. Unlike mk4s, the mk5 engine covers dont have an 8v stamp
