Hey all,
The airbag light on my GTi randomly came on this morning... it flashed for a while and then stayed on. I was wondering if it's just cos it was really cold this morning as it's never done, but I'm thinking about getting it booked in to check it out.
Any thoughts?
Known airbag problems?

So this is annoying.
I took the car to the garage to have it looked at. They plugged in the device, saw some random error codes including "sporadic fault" to do with wiring. They reset the errors and APPARENTLY the light went off and it was fine all day. So I go to pick it up, pay them 50 quid for the fkn pleasure, they tell me it's all sorted, and I start the car and hey presto the airbag light is on.
They now want the car in to do further diagnosis, but this they say involves stripping the dash to look for dodgy wiring which in my book means it's going to be fekkin expensive and something I could perhaps do myself.
Anyone got any thoughts on what might be causing this? To be honest, I'm tempted to just unplug the bulb.
Also, is there a non VAGCOM device that they might be using? When I picked it up and the light came on, they plugged their device in, and all I could see on it was something saying TOUCH. If they're not using a VAGCOM system then I'm a bit pissed off - I've paid them 50 quid to do basically nothing.
