HELP my polo keeps hold the revs when stopping

my brother was fixing my heater on my car(Polo 6N 1998)

then decided to clean out the throttle body

he done a reali good job until i drove it the next day

what it keeps doing is when the car heats up and im driving

if im coming to a stop with the car out of gear the car holds the revs until the wheels stop moving sometimes increases the revs then goes back to idling at 1000 revs.

i have put the car on the laptop and no falts are cuming up and tryed resetting the throttle alignment still no luck any idea's

Think the throttle body needs a reset using vag-com as I tried the battery trick in the past a few times and its never worked.

Do u kno or any1 else kno the details on how to reset the throttle body on vag-com just in case my brother is doing it rong

Will resetting the ECU help?

I'm not technically minded with this but the ECU was reading a different setting before (ie with all the dirt in the TB), maybe the fact it's changed is making the ECU think the TB's like before.

cuz i have resetted the throttle body and vag-com says its all ok but it still doing the same thing

there is 1 thing i hav noticed it will only have this problem when the engine heats up not when the engine is cold

Pure guess lambda as you run rich whilst it heats up, once heated you run normally... but its a pure guess where thats got covered in gunk when the tb was cleaned, again a pure guess.

Another idea is when cleaning tb you got stuff in the hoses such as oxygen or vacuum tube, again a guess.

just to let evry 1 know iv solved this problem after sending it to vw and them telling me to change the throttle body and they wanted to charge me £400 to do this

they wernt 100% sure it would solve the problem so i told them sod it

my bro was trying to fix it and it ended up being the COOLANT TEMP SENDER

TOTAL COST £15 from europarts

The temp senders one of the nmost common faults on 6n polo's when it comes to rev issues! Atleast you sorted it already and bet your lucky you didn't get bent over by VW!

yhh im happy my car in on the up

i done my first service by my self a few weeks ago so its running nice im guna get the clutch changed the she will be running perfect lol
