Porsche 928 alloys (again!)

Post by KarlM »

Hi all,

I'm picking up some polished porcshe '928 alloys' next weekend. I just want to check (before I look like a complete cnut) that these are the Design 90s.

Thats right isnt it? of not can some post some photos of the 928s?

cheers

Nope, they're not Design 90's. Oh, the middle ones are Cups, but the others are like the "manhole cover" ones. I'm sure Speedy will clear this up, but they're definatelly not Design 90's.

with the set of specially machined adaptors i had made up last time i was looking for some. Its quite a common mod to fit Porsche wheels.

so am i right in thinking these wheels are rarer than the design 90s?

The Gullideckels are perhaps slightly more rare than the D90's. Gullideckels = Man hole covers. Also known as Kanal deckel wheels. The more rare Club Sport wheel is similar to the D90's, but the spokes run into the lip, making them look bigger. They're forged as well, instead of cast - but I could be mixing things up here. Anyway.

So it's:

Image

Gulli's, featured on 928's, 924 Turbo's, 944's and C2's

Image

Design 90's, aka C2 wheels, featured on Carrera's 2 and 4, 944S2, 928

Image

The forged Club Sport wheel, featured on 944 Turbo's and 928 GT's

(I'd like the last set please)

A set normally comes with 2 7x16 and 2 9x16 iirc. The guy thats selling these has 4 7x16 though - so the arch mods i have already (to run 7x17s) so be more than enough.

He's also selling some p-slots for £10 per wheel if anyones interested.
