low coilovers??

removed my rear adjusters and cut down my bump stops at the rear, but the front wont go as low as i want it?? would it be safe to remove the helper springs from the front or is there some coilovers that go v low on the front?? the rear is fine now and rides so much better with the bump stops shortened no more bounce, just a tip for anyone! I would even consider shortened shocks and springs for the front as it would work out cheaper??

we did a good job in the dark doing that didnt we chris , ride is spot on now and the back sits perfectly

but like you said, the front needs to go lower

i were talking to somone about this today at work and he were expaining to me how yes it can be done by removing the helper and winging up the the threads but he says that it will definately comprimise on ride

it will be more bouncy without that shorter softer spring to smooth out the bumps which will then effect the handleing

yesterday me and chris cut the bumpstops in half on his polo and we got rid of the bounce but if the helper spring is removed he is going to end up with the same problem again only on the front this time !!

hey man.see when you removed the rear adjusters did you take the full thing out and just let the spring sit in the hub?(if thats right)
i was wanting to do this at the weekend there but have just removed the bottom ring(the one that locks it)

at first i we removed the ajusting ring but it only gives you a 4 or 5 mm drop which is pointless

so we removed the whole lot with the big 19mm bolt underneath the spring cradle and it is perfect which gave a 15 to 20 mm drop

its reccomended that you chop your bumpstops in half though or else you will have a very bouncy ride

i dont mean to sound like a cowboy here people but .....

i recon so that you keep your ride comfort and your handleing could we not chop a coil off the main spring not the helper spring,

well maybe half a coil first and see what that is like, if not low enough then we will remove another half

i think it will work well

cos me and ryk cut 3 coils off each spring on that beemer and the ride wasnt effected at all, it was just lower

surely nothing will be effected other than ride height which then if its to low can be re-ajusted

when your spring is sitting in the recess has it not got loads of room to move about tho.have you put any thing between the recess and the spring like a bit of rubber???
