Chrome Grille Installation (By Volkswagen?)

Post by aaronon »

Hey Guys. . . I got a Chrome Grille just before christmas and it has never sat flush with the base.

The two end clips clip in fine. . .but in the middle on either end of the badge it comes up so it isn't really flush.

I could push it as hard as I possibly could but it never clicks it just does nothing except bounce back up.

What exactly is the problem with it? . . .If I phone my Volkswagen Service Center would they clip it in for me? . . .How much do you think they would charge me?

Thanks for any help at all.

Although i dont have a Polo i can give you some advice, The same happened to the Irmscher grill for my Corsa and it was all down to the fact that it hadnt been trimmed correctly after it was moulded, That excess peice of plastic was stopping it from clipping in properly, I would go around and check it for anything like that and then compare it to your origional grill to see if its identical

Dont think VW ill charge you for having a quick look at it though if you cand manage to fit it

OK Thanks, i'll have a little check - the first Grille I got had faulty clips that didn't clip at all, so VAG PARTS sent me out a replacement which i'm sure I analyzed thoroughly before taking of my old grille but i'll have another look and see what happens. :)

I don't know what i'll do if it's faulty because they're out of business now, I guess i'll have to buy another off eBay or something.

not a problem mate, just put it side by side against your origional grill and compare it, make sure that everything is idientical,

if its fine take it to VW and im sure they will have a look for free pal,

See the thing is I'm afraid they'll say i've modified my car without a proper qualified engineer and tell me to go away.

I'll let you know how it goes.

P.S if you or anyone else reading the thread knows of a website that gives good instructions on how to do it i'd be happy to hear about it.

I screwed in the four torx screws first , then clipped in the bottom clips.

Is this the best way?
