Re: angel eye bulbs
What bulbs do they take? I'd just get HIDs for them.

Re: angel eye bulbs
HIDs - High intensity discharge bulb. I've forgotten the physics of them, but basically your given a power pack with them (ballast) which charges the gas in the bulb so it emits a certain temperature.
MUCH brighter than standard Halogens, and MUCH whiter. Ever past a new BMW or Land Rover and seen that blue twinkle in their white lights? They are HIDs.
You find them on loads of newer cars, they were also standard on the 6N2 GTi, in 4300k (this measurement is in kelvins relating to the temperture the gas emits, or the colour).
The higher the figure, the bluer the tint. Standard HID bulbs are normally 4300k. A popular and very appropiate upgrade is 6000k, a bluer tint. They go up to 12000k (intense purple), pretty sure they become illegal further up the scale, but not sure when or for definate.
Where can you get them? This is the kit you'll need for H7 replacements:

May seem expensive, so so damn worth it. Best mod you'll buy. i'd recommend the 6000k kit, NON anti glare. I've got these as both dipped and full beams.
Very easy to fit. Don't worry if you don't have a clue how they work, the simple step by step instructions will show you what to do.
Ohh and UK-Polos get a discount from HIDs also

Re: angel eye bulbs
do they replace the bulb or are they an extra bit? wat about buying spare bulbs if they go? did u get the same kit for dipped and full? thought the full beam are suppose to be brighter? other wise that kit for the dipped beam does seem interesting as its under £100. how would i get a discount then?

They replace the bulbs, and there's a bit more wiring, but it's all plug and play. The bulbs last ages, my first set in the GTi were 7 years old before I changed them.kipper wrote:do they replace the bulb or are they an extra bit? wat about buying spare bulbs if they go? did u get the same kit for dipped and full? thought the full beam are suppose to be brighter? other wise that kit for the dipped beam does seem interesting as its under £100. how would i get a discount then?
I wouldn't worry about changing bulbs though, HIDs4U have a great customer service, so if one konks out they'd change it without question. They have a 1-2 year warranty IIRC.
I've got two different kits. The one that came standard on the GTi for dipped beams, which I upgraded the bulbs from 4300k to 6000k.
Then I bought a retro fit H1 kit, in 6000k for the full beams.
I've got a couple of discount codes, but procedure is to ask AlexPerkins for it. Give him a PM.

Re: angel eye bulbs
Nope it dont.
Yeah the site and i've got a 6000k kit.
The hardest part of fitting it was deciding where to mount the ballasts. Other than that, a snip

Re: angel eye bulbs
I mounted mine on the fuel pump on the drivers side, and under the headlight on the passenger's side.kipper wrote:so where did u mount it in the end?
